Mammoth Cave

After visiting Congaree we drove to Kentucky and spent two days. The first day we spent in the longest cave system known in the world. We learned about Stephen Bishop, an African-American slave. He drew extensive maps of the cave. The ancient writings of names and dates on the ceiling of the caves was fascinating. They are written in pencil and in candle smoke. We also visited Stephen Bishop's grave from a distance in the Old Guide's Cemetery.
